In-Line Inspection (Intelligent Pigging

Testing and monitoring of fuel transmission pipelines is one of the main responsibilities of all the pipeline operators. The most complete and effective method for integrity monitoring is In-Line Inspection (also known as Intelligent Pigging).

This NDE is providing the operator with a profile of the pipeline, detecting the construction elements, the position and size of the geometrical anomalies as well as the pipe wall metal loss. It is providing the ability for characterization of each defect in relation to the urgency of repairing, while allows also the calculation of the remaining safe operation lifespan under the current conditions. Besides standard reporting, more options are available, assisting the operator to gain more complete understanding of his pipelines’ condition, in order to schedule effectively the maintenance program. Examples of these optional services are the XYZ mapping, the Fitness for Purpose and Corrosion Growth Assessments, the optimum repair method reporting and more.

Kaliper inspection services are also available for newly constructed pipelines.

Kaliper surveys are a pre-commissioning requirement for locating any geometrical anomalies, before the line being put in service. A Kaliper pigging may reveal any defects created during the manufacturing or the construction phase, such as misalignment, dents, ovality and more.  This allows the contractor to repair any possible defect with local and limited size interventions, minimizing the cost significantly compared to repairing in a later phase.
